FAQ

  • What is the Mid-Atlantic 86 Club?

We are a social car club for owners of the Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86, and Toyota GR86, primarily based around the National Capital Region. We get together socially on a regular basis, have special events multiple times a year (car shows, trips, motorsports, charity events, & more!), and enjoy the camaraderie and benefits of owning similar cars.

Although we are primarily based around the greater Washington metropolitan area, we have members in all parts of DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, and even Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We collaborate with other regional clubs frequently.

  • Why is the club named the "86" Club? Can I still join if I drive a Subaru BRZ?

In the beginning (2012) you either drove a Scion FR-S or a Subaru BRZ. These were the two North American production versions of the FT-86 Concept Car (Future Toyota 86). At the time, naming the club the “Mid-Atlantic 86 Club” seemed like an appropriate homage to the FT-86 Concept Car and more inclusive than naming the club after either the FR-S or BRZ. However, once the Scion brand was discontinued, Toyota started selling the car model as '86'. While we have considered renaming the club, the name has been around long enough and has enough recognition that we have stuck with it.

  • Who can join the club or attend events? Does it cost anything to join?

Our club has always been free to join. The only requirement to join the club is that you own either a Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86, or Toyota GR86. Becoming a member is easy, just start showing up to events! We sell merchandise so that you can show your affiliation with the club.

If you are not an "owner" of the vehicle, you are still permitted to attend events as an "enthusiast". Enthusiasts should always give owners priority when parking together at meets, etc., but otherwise we are glad to have you!

  • Where are your events? How can I find out about club activities and meet fellow members?

Fortunately you have come to the right place! Simply click on the Home button or Events button at the top of this page. You can scroll down on the homepage and events page to see all of our socials, subscribe to our Google Calendar, and see the upcoming activities we have scheduled.

  • Who decides what events the club does? Can I make an event or collaborate with the club for an event?

We are a club for and by our members. While we do have an "official" club event each month and biweekly meets in Maryland & Virginia to maintain a consistent schedule, all other events are created and executed by our members. Use the Contact Us section of the website if you have questions about events or to add a location to our biweekly meet schedule. If you’re ready to host an event, fill out our Event Creation Form.

  • How long has this club been around? Are you a business or non-profit?

We have been around in some form or another since 2012, primarily on Facebook. As we have grown, we have expanded to use more social media platforms, as well as incorporating as an LLC in 2023 (in order to facilitate making financial contributions to local charities and administer larger scale events). We are thrilled to have two generations of cars and a decade of memories already and can’t wait for what the future brings!
